For the sixth year in a row off duty members of the Providence Fire Department will be offering free rides home to those who are too drunk to drive. To take advantage of this program please call 401.272.7999. If you see someone who you believe is unable to drive, say something and offer to call this number for them.
While Rhode Island motor vehicle fatalities are lower than the national average, the deaths resulting from alcohol involved motor vehicle accidents is significantly higher in Rhode Island than the national average, according to the Rhode Island Department of Motor Vehicles. https://health.ri.gov/data/motorvehicleinjury/
With riding apps like Uber and Lyft there is simply no excuse to drink and drive. Thank you to our local fire department for keeping Rhode Islander’s safe!
