Ryan C. Hurley

Ryan C. Hurley joined Kiernan, Plunkett & Redihan as an associate in 2010 and was made a partner in 2017.  Ryan graduated from Connecticut College in 2001, and earned his Juris Doctorate from Wake Forest University School of Law in 2006. After law school, Mr. Hurley returned to his home state of Rhode Island.  He primarily practices in the areas of Civil Litigation, Insurance Defense, Construction Law, Environmental Law, Premises Liability, Product Liability, Workers’ Compensation and Employment. He possesses extensive litigation experience in the Rhode Island Superior Court, the Rhode Island District Court and U.S. District Court.  Ryan also handles appellate matters in the Rhode Island Supreme Court.  

In 2013, the Defense Counsel of Rhode Island elected Ryan to its Board of Directors and, in 2014 and 2015, Super Lawyers magazine named him a “Rising Star.”  Recently, Ryan presented at a continuing legal education (“CLE”) seminar on the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s new enforcement agenda.  He also presented at another CLE seminar on the topic of written discovery requests in the world of social media and the relevant objections and privileges.   In October 2015, Ryan lectured at a CLE seminar sponsored by the Defense Counsel of Rhode Island regarding the recent opinions of the Rhode Island Supreme Court.  In particular, his presentation focused on the case of FIA Card Services, N.A. v. Pichette, 116 A.3d 770 (2015) and the ethical issues of limited legal representation and “ghostwriting.”
